DAY THREE

Th 5/7/15

I awoke at 515am and typed out a Happy Birthday note to Janny. I had one room coffee and down to the free breakfast bar by 6am. The three Mexican/Indian gentlemen that sit out at the pool area were in ahead of me. Two bowls of cereal and some peanut butter toast, and I lifted three bagels for dinner.

Left the room for LA Fitness right at 7am. Today I decided to do a 45" segment on the cross trainer before doing a run outside. Beautiful day; 70's breezy, sunny, and I don't think the high for the day was much into the mid 80's. I jogged once around the building and then west in the parking lots to 57th Ave north to Indian Hills. Then east to 55th Ave, and south back to the fitness center. This is just about a 45" run; perfect! Then back inside for a ride on the stationary bikes with the arm rest. Today I used my mp3 player in the radio mode and watched the TV and listened to the audio on the radio. It worked out real nice, and this is the first time that I've used that feature. 45" Bike. 45" Cross (Reverse). 45" Walk. 4.2 pace. Some of the Nautilus-like equipment, and then fifteen minutes on one of the cross trainers on the lower level. A long, long workout and fI felt that I really deserved the steam room, but it was closed for the day, but it's open tomorrow. I did a ten minute dip in the whirlpool and a lap in the pool.

Arrived at Elsie's at 1230pm. He and Tony were in their assigned seats, and as soon as he saw me, he was rarin' to go. We talked a bit, and I explained that we would be going to his old house and then on to McD's. And, that's what occurred. Some traffic backup due to roadwork as we went west on Thunderbird. I had the classical music station on and he seemed to enjoy the music.

When we got to the house it didn't do a thing for him. He didn't remember anything, and I took a couple of mediocre pictures. The drawback to the camera is that you can't see what you are taking a picture of in direct sunlight, so you just shoot and hope for the best.

Just for a change, I took Bell east and hit 43rd to 'our McD's'. Today he ate his full order of salad, six McNuggets, sundae (with peanuts) and one cookie. He took the other cookie home to Elsie's. When we got back, he seemed to want to nap, so I talked to Laura and Cindy. On the way to Pineaire we went by his nursing home at Plaza del Rio, and this is where I first met Laura. I was surprised to learn that she has been with Lannie's company for thirteen years. The nursing home facility is near the intersection of Thunderbird and 99th and not very far from his Pineaire address.

Shortly after 4pm Lannie came in and I was trapped in conversation until almost 530pm. She had a huge stack of papers, and it seemed like she wanted me to peruse the whole bunch, and I was dying to get away.
However, some of the stats on the Old Man are quite remarkable. His resting pulse is sometimes in the mid 50's, and his general blood pressure reads like some kind of long distance runner. Incredible for somebody his age, and people fifty years younger would kill for!!! He's up for an opportunity to take an additional dose of an anti-dementia medicine and I told Lannie that it seems like it would be fine. If it don't work, back it off.

Finally, at 515 pm, Cindy had to leave and I had blocked her car, so I had to leave as well. I drove all the way back to the motel, in heavy rush hour traffic, and realized that I had left the computer at the house. I had the tablet but not the bag. I was completely done in by talking to Lannie and the general stress of the day. That mistake cost me about a half hour, but there was not a chance in Hell that I'd go the night without the Chromebook.

I think I'll do a movie on Netflix tonight. The tablet is down to 22% so I'll give it a full charge for tomorrow.

The plan is to hit LA Fitness and then head south for a day in Tucson, AZ.
